The Moon Voyage is a science fiction novel based on the post-civil war era in the United States and it is followed by a sequel, Around the Moon. The Moon Voyage describes fact and figures that are advanced for its time. The authors almost correctly described the projectile of moon landing which was astonishing given the lack of scientific advancements of his time. The rivalry between Impey Barbicane, a weapon engineer and Captain Nicholl of Philadelphia, an armour designer turns into a wager that involves in a trip to the moon. Michel Ardan, a French adventurer also joins them in the journey. The fate of the adventurers is left uncertain at the end.
